If you need to sign or fill out portions of a document before sending it for signature you can do so by using the Prefill option.
Note: The Prefill option can be selected when sending individual transactions as well as when creating and using templates and rules.

Using the Prefill option when starting off an already created template
If you are starting off an already created template, follow these steps:
1. Click on the Send option from the top navigation bar. You will be taken to the envelope preparation interface.
2. Click on the +Template button to select the corresponding template to be used.
Tip: Alternatively, you can select the corresponding template from the home page Template dropdown.
By doing so, you will be directed to the envelope preparation interface with the template already selected. The uploaded documents will appear in the Attach files table with the file name and document size.
Note: If the File review setting is enabled, you can select whether the recipient should sign or review the attached file.
3. Make sure you populate who the recipients should be. Note that the prefill recipient will be auto populated with your name and email.
Note: You can select the recipient's language if applicable.
4. Modify the subject and email body if applicable, or select an already created message template. Once finished, press on the Next button.
5. Review the document and add fillable control fields if needed. When finished, press the Next button. You will be taken to the Prefilling interface.
Using the Prefill option when starting off an already created rule
If you are starting off an already created rule, follow these steps:
1. Click on the Send option from the top navigation bar. You will be taken to the envelope preparation interface.
2. Click on the +Rule button to select the corresponding rule to be used.
Tip: Alternatively, you can select the corresponding rule from the home page Rule dropdown.
By doing so, you will be directed to the envelope preparation interface with the rule already selected.
3. Attach the applicable file by dragging and dropping the document you wish to upload onto the whitespace under Attach files, or by clicking on the +Document button.
The uploaded document will appear in the Attach files table with the file name and document size.

Using the Prefill option when sending an individual transaction
If you are sending an individual transaction and you wish to prefill some information before sending the signature request, follow these steps:
1. Click on the Send option from the top navigation bar. You will be taken to the envelope preparation interface.
2. Attach the applicable files by dragging and dropping the documents you wish to upload onto the whitespace under Attach files, or by clicking on the +Document button.
Note: If the File review setting is enabled, you can select whether the recipient should sign or review the attached file.
3. Populate the recipients table. To add recipients, click on the the +Recipient button. To add yourself as prefill, select the Prefill option from the Type dropdown. Your information will be auto populated.
Note: You can select the recipient's language if applicable.
4. Add the message subject and email body, or select an already created message template. Once finished, press on the Next button.
5. Prepare the document by adding fillable control fields. Make sure you assign the corresponding fields to the signers, and for those fields that are to be pre-filled by you, select your name with the (P) at the end. (P) stands for Prefill.
6. When finished, press the Next button. You will be taken to the Prefilling interface.
Prefilling and sending the signature request
The prefilling interface is the last step before sending the signature request to the applicable signers. In this page, you need to complete any field that has been assigned to you.
Once you have filled out all the fields press the green Submit button on the upper right corner. The document will be sent to the additional recipients for signature. The prefilled fillable control fields will be visible to the remaining signers.
How to self-sign when you are the sole signer.
If the document only requires your signature, you can use the Prefill option without adding any other recipients.
1. Click on the Send option from the top navigation bar. You will be taken to the envelope preparation interface.
2. Attach the applicable files by dragging and dropping the documents you wish to upload onto the whitespace under Attach files, or by clicking on the +Document button.
3. In the Add Recipients table, select the Prefill option from the Type dropdown to designate yourself as the signer. Your information will be automatically populated.
4. Add the message subject and email body, or select an already created message template. Once finished, press on the Next button.
5. Prepare the document by adding the fillable control fields based on the personal information you want to include.
6. When finished, press the Next button. You will be taken to the Prefill interface, where you'll need to complete the fillable control fields you added to the document. Once done, press the Submit button to finalize.
7. You will receive the signed document in your email. Alternatively, you can access it by going to the envelope, clicking on the green envelope icon, and selecting More Actions. From there, you can download both the signed document and the signature certificate.
